My name is Kam and when I was five years old, I wanted to be an astronaut. By the time I was six years old, I realized I had a better chance of designing spaceships than actually flying them. So, I decided to become an aerospace engineer. One of my deep, dark secrets is that I grew up in Hamilton, Ontario (that’s me standing in front of the first Tim Hortons in Hamilton). It wasn’t until I moved to Toronto that I was able to realize my educational ambitions.

Have you ever heard of the phrase “Be careful what you wish for”? I mention this because after grad school, I applied for only one post doc position with a professor I highly respect. To my surprise, I was accepted. The caveat here was that it was at a university in Israel. So, my wife and I decided to be adventurous and move to the middle east. It was an amazing experience living in Haifa, Israel for 1.5 years and I have yet to have a decent shawarma since I left.

Following Israel, we moved to Berlin, Germany where I got to apply all that I had learned and studied. We got to experience the art, philosophy, music, and food of the European lifestyle. Rome, Venice, Budapest, Prague, London, Amsterdam, and the Alhambra are just some of the amazing places we visited. But my wife and I are Canadian and after 6.5 years in Berlin, it was time to come home.

During our travels, we acquired two very special “souvenirs”. Mimsy is from Haifa, Israel, and Elfchen (Elfie) is from Berlin, Germany. As you can see, I am a cat guy. Some of my other interests include hiking, mountain biking, and I am hoping to learn how to ski this winter.

In total, my wife and I have been living abroad for 8 years. We are very happy to be back in Canada and love having the Rocky Mountains as our backyard. I am very excited to use my skills and experience to be able to help Whipcord achieve its technical goals.
